About Brian

Raised in a family of musicians, it was just meant to be. My mother was a violist. She taught lessons at home as I was growing up. I swore I would never follow in her footsteps. But, look at me now, I have a studio of students and I love it. My father was an organist and music teacher. My older brother has been a performer and teacher of early music in Basel, Switzerland. My sister is a flutist living in New Hampshire.

I'm a violist, but teach violin and viola. I have retired from a lengthy free-lance carrier, focusing primarily in the opera realm, performing with Central City Opera for over 24 years. I also performed with New Haven Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Opera Colorado, Colorado Ballet, Pro Musica, Boulder Philharmonic, Greeley Philharmonic, and, and, and…

My undergraduate degree is in education from the University of Northern Colorado. Upon graduation I moved to the east coast. My studies continued with Jesse Levine at Yale University, and then with Burton Kaplan from the Manhattan School of Music in N.Y.C.

have taught in public schools, private schools, and community music schools. I currently teach private lessons at home and as an instrumental music coach at various Jeffco schools.  I run viola sectionals with Front Range Youth Symphony and with Jefferson County All-County Honors Orchestra.

Being one with multiple interests, I owned a business called COOK with COOK, teaching home cooking classes. I also co-owned a popcorn shop in Central City with a friend. I am a licensed massage therapist. I teach Qigong, a form of movement prescribed by Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am an avid bicyclist. And I collect all things dachshund.

But when someone asks me what I do? I proudly say I'm a teacher.
